Aspen Nightlife – Harris Concert Hal

There is always something going on in Aspen, Colorado and the Aspen nightlife is very active. You can find a wide variety of things to do – but if you want a little culture, you should definitely find out what events are planned at the Harris

Concert Hall.

At the Harris Concert Hall, you will find everything from Piano Recitals to Rock-n-Roll Concerts. Events are planned well in advance, so you should be able to find out what concerts and events are scheduled to coincide with your Aspen vacation.

The Harris Concert Hall is located in the West end of Aspen, in a quaint residential neighborhood. Due to parking and traffic problems, you should strongly consider walking to the concert hall. It is a short ten minute walk from the downtown area. Other transportation options include biking or taking the bus. When there are events at the concert,it is very difficult to find parking.

The Aspen Music Festival and School were founded in 1949 by Walter and Elizabeth Paepcke from Chicago. Many music professionals train here and all of the school and festival performances take place in the Harris Concert Hall, which seats over 2000 people.

You should definitely try to visit Aspen during the Music Festival. This takes place over a nine week period in the summer, and there are usually more than 200 planned events. People from all over the world come to the Aspen Music Festival, so be sure that you make your plans and reservations early! Another exciting event that takes place at the Harris Concert Hall is the Aspen Film Festival. This festival takes place three times each year.

The Harris Concert Hall is full of history, even though the newest section of it wasn’t built until recently. This is a major part of Aspen’s history and culture, and you should try to attend at least one event at the Harris Concert Hall while you are in Aspen. Most events take place in the evening; however there are also events that take place during the day. You can check with your lodge or hotel to find out what events
are planned at the Concert Hall each day. Also inquire about the need to purchase advance tickets for specific events.

India (Country Guide)

Read it all before you go (but don't take it all with you)5

INDIA(Country Guide): By Aroundtourism.blogspot.comI used the 98 edition while travelling in Sept/Oct 99 and found it extremely informative even though the prices were outdated. Prices may change overnight but 1,000 year-old temple ruins probably won't. It did seem as though every other traveler (and hotel owner and rickshaw driver...) owned a copy, yet it provided an excellent orientation to the places I visited and served as a great reference tool for further exploration.  The maps were better than anything I found locally and the cultural info was very helpful.

The book is bulky/heavy but tearing out key sections can easily solve this. I cut my book in half this way and got lots of envious stares from others lugging their entire LP or Rough Guide around and actually referring to maybe a third of it.

Get this book, get the LP Hindi-Urdu phrase book, but skip the LP travel atlas unless you want to walk across India.

Best guidebook, even for experienced India travelers5

When Lonely Planet India first appeared in 1981, it raised the standard for all India guidebooks in the comprehensiveness of locations covered and the detailed information useful to independent travelers, especially those on lower budgets. Twenty years later, it remains the guidebook I personally rely upon most, despite my familiarity with India from extensive travels since 1980 researching my historical novels such as India Treasures. I first learned about that wonderful nonprofit home-stay organization Servas from a Lonely Planet guide, which led to many of our best experiences in India, including lasting friendships. Although my wife and I aren't backpackers, and we're probably mid-range in terms of the amount we spend on accommodations and food, the book is extremely helpful. It's the most up to date and highly detailed regarding such information as transportation options within India, the scams travelers can encounter, and a wealth of other tips too numerous to get into in a brief review.

Given the India guidebook's thickness and weight, I've found it convenient to cut it into sections and only take the parts with me for the regions I plan to visit. It's still desirable to get supplemental maps for any city or region one plans to spend much time in, as the maps in the book are usually pretty minimal in terms of detail. And other guidebooks do indeed have useful information this one doesn't (browse the travel shelves in your favorite bookstore to find the additional guides most suitable for your own interests and style of travel). I also advocate reading the better novels set in India, to experience insights into daily life that guidebooks can only hint at.

No single guidebook on India can be all things to all persons for all occasions, but this one surely comes the closest, especially for travelers who don't have their arrangements taken care of on organized tours.

The Perfect Vacation

A beach vacation is something all of us can use, as it provides time away with the family, friends, or just that special someone. Beach vacations are also a great way to unwind from the pressures of life, and just have a blast.

All around the world, there are literally hundreds of places that you can choose for your beach vacation. You can choose from beaches in the United States, or choose to go overseas to more tropical climates and romantic beaches.

Those of you who are looking to get away with a husband or wife, would find the Maui to be the perfect beach vacation. Located in Hawaii, Maui is one of the most romantic beaches in the world. Also well known for honeymoons, Maui offers you plenty of breathtaking beaches with plenty of other things to do as well.

Another well known area for a beach vacation for couples is the Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands have been a popular vacation spot for many years, offering couples the chance to get away from it all and just spend some well deserved and well needed time together.

For a family beach vacation, there are many places you can go. One of the most popular is California, as there are many other things to interest the kids as well. There are several beaches in the state, with Huntington beach and plenty of attractions as well, including Sea World and the San Diego Zoo.

When you choose the perfect beach vacation, you need to choose a spot that will cater to who you are taking with you. Couples wouldn't want to go to a family resort destination, while families wouldn't want to go to a couples resort that offers plenty of romance.

No matter where you decide to go, you can rest assured that there are plenty of locations for you to choose from. You can search online using a search engine, which can help you locate deals that are simply too good to pass up.

Before you decide to rush off to your beach vacation, you should plan first. Decide on where you are going, research your destination spot, and make sure that it offers something for everyone. Beach vacations are truly inspiring, although it also helps to have other activities available as well.

Once you plan your beach vacation very carefully, you'll be more than ready to take off to your destination and relax. You'll enjoy yourself much better if you plan carefully, which will also help to remove a lot of the stress that can be involved with planning for a beach vacation - or going on your destination unprepared.

Aspen Nightlife – Country & Western Dancing

Polka Dancing Push & Return Step

Believe it or not, there is only one place in Aspen where you can scoot a boot across the dance floor to the sounds of George Strait, and other Country & Western favorites – Shooter’s Salon. Shooter’s Salon is located on South Galena Street, and they are open from 6:30pm to 2am every day, and again, this club has the distinction of being the only Country & Western club in the whole town of Aspen, Colorado.

Here, cowboy hats, creased jeans, and boots are the expected attire. During the week, the music is provided by a DJ, and on weekends live bands provide the tunes. If you don’t know how to do the Texas Two-Step, you can learn how on any Thursday night which is when Shooter’s offers free Country dance lessons.

 Country & Western Dancing

Good beer, good music, great dancing, friendly games of pool or darts – Shooter’s is a place where all cowboy’s and cowgirl’s will feel right at home. If you want to let your hair down, without having to worry about breaking any of the rules set by ‘polite society’ in the other fine establishments located in Aspen, Shooter’s is the place to do it!

Preparing For Your St. Thomas Vacation

Each year, a large number of families and couples make the decision to vacation in St. Thomas. If you are interested in becoming one of those individuals, there are a number of steps that you should take to prepare for your St. Thomas vacation.

Many travelers mistakenly believe that vacation preparation begins the week or two before your vacation. If you are interested in traveling to the Caribbean or overseas, you will need to start planning your vacation well in advance. This planning often includes obtaining a passport. Passports can easily be obtained; however, they may take some time to process. Requesting a passport months before your vacation to St. Thomas is the best way to ensure that you will have it on time.

In addition to a passport, you will need other forms of identification. A driver’s license is the best thing to bring along. If you do not have a driver’s license another form of identification with your picture on it should be good enough. Before leaving on our vacation, you may want to consider making copies of all of your important documents. These copies may come in handy if you happen to loose or misplace the originals.

Since most travelers stay at least a week in St. Thomas, you will want to make sure that someone will be able to watch over your home or your pets, if you have any. This person can be a close friend, family member, co-worker, or neighbor. It is important that you leave them detailed instructions on how to care for your pets. If you do not need anyone to watch over your home, you will want to place your mail on hold. This can easily be done by visiting your local post office.

When you know exactly when you will be leaving and where you will be staying, you are urged to let a friend or family member know. If you have developed an itinerary for your vacation, you should give a copy to someone that you know. In the event that something goes wrong back home, you will be able to be reached in a short period of time.

Once you have made the above mentioned plans, you can begin to start packing for your vacation. When packing, it is encouraged that you leave valuable items at home. Many times, if you lose or misplace some of your belongings, you will be the one who will have to pay for replacements. It is also advised that you properly tag your entire luggage with your name and contact information. Should your luggage get lost in the air or on the ground, an identification tag may come in handy.

When vacationing in St. Thomas, it is likely that you will bring along spending money you. You are advised against carry large sums of money. If you must bring cash with you, you are encouraged to divide your money into smaller amounts. Storing your cash in multiple locations will prevent you from being without funds in the event that your money gets lost or stolen. Instead of carrying large amounts of cash, you may want to consider cashiers checks, traveler’s checks, or money orders.

When traveling around St. Thomas, you are advised against brining a purse along with you. Purses and large wallets are sometimes targets to thieves. Instead of carrying a purse or a wallet you may want to consider a money pouch. Money pouches that tuck right into your shirt can be purchased from most dollar stores in the United States. This small purchase makes it difficult or impossible for you to lose your money or have it stolen.

Using some of the tips mentioned above is the best way to plan for your St. Thomas vacation. St. Thomas is located in the Caribbean, should anything go wrong you are most likely far away from home. Taking the time to fully prepare for your vacation is the best way to make sure that nothing goes awry.

the sixth Bhumibol Dam International Mountain Bike Championship

Bikers brave the rough stuff

Bikers brave the rough stuff

Mountain bikers gather at one of Thailand’s most scenic dams for a series of races and fun activities.

Bumping over rough trails is not everyone’s idea of having fun, but medical science appears to support the idea that riding your mountain bike over a boulder-strewn course is actually good for building bone density.

If you need an excuse to join the sixth Bhumibol Dam International Mountain Bike Championship, 29 to 30 August, that might be it. But it is more likely to be that the venue, for this fun event, is the scenic Bhumibol Dam, surrounded by forest-covered hills, in Sam Ngao district, Tak province.

This weekend of fun rides and serious competition is a firm fixture in Thailand’s annual sports events calendar. It is remarkably popular because it focuses on mountain bikes as opposed to the majority of cycle-related events that are either a triathlon with competitors using triathlon or time-trial bikes, or the tradition road races that favour super light road bikes.

Most leisure cyclists own a mountain bike so here is an opportunity to take the family on an interesting trip to Tak province, a destination that has a reputation for serving up superb soft-adventure options as well as a famous dam where you can relax and enjoy nature.

Backing the event are the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Sports Authority of Thailand. Created to promote an interest in outdoor sports and also encourage ecotourism at both national and international levels, the races underscore the beauty of a province that is not on the main tourist trail.

For many mountain bikers and their families this is the highlight of the year, a reunion of friends from both Thailand and overseas, who share a passion for mountain bikes.  Participants of all ages gather at the starting line on the crest of the spectacular Bhumibol Dam for two days of fun activities and serious races.

This very scenic location provides a variety of race routes that will both challenge the semi-pro mountain bike racers and also please recreational riders.

It is really up the participants as to how far they wish to push their bikes and bodies. If they want the thrill of descending steep slopes through jungle terrain, or the steady pace of a trail over rolling hills that border the reservoir, the organisers have a choice of categories to deliver the right experience.

There are six categories to choose from :

  • Long distance 60 km;
  • family 16 km
  • tour biking 10 km
  • cyclo-cross on the dam's crest, five km.
  • international race 39 km.
  • amateur 24 km.

Just to ensure all the hard physical activity is balanced with lots of fun, the organisers encourage visitors and participants to display vintage two wheelers in an “ancient bike contest”. The line up is impressive with some participants showing off bikes that have serious historical value, while others are more exotic, possibly bordering on weird.

On the sidelines, folk music bands entertain to create a family atmosphere, while there are even handicraft stalls supplied by shops under the One Tambon, One Product project, a national initiative to support village handicrafts.

To round off the fun, bike shops attend to sell equipment at discount prices.  All this is part of a healthy experience for biking enthusiasts, who usually discover that they need to make just one more purchase to round off the beauty, or technical excellence, of their prized bikes.

Bhumibol Dam is located in Tak province, 426 km north of Bangkok, just off Highway 1.
The race site, at the crest of the dam, is 60 km north of Tak provincial town, where most of the hotel accommodation is located.

Call TAT Tak office at 055 514341-3 or visit : www.bhumiboldam.egat.com

    Golf bargains galore

    Golf bargains galore

Tee of time at the annual Hua Hin/Cha-am Golf Festival.

    Golf bargains galore

It could be tagged the best golf offer in Asia and it is perfect timing as the bargains on the greens are now matched  by superb discounts offered on air travel and accommodation.

Hua Hin and Cha-am, twin resorts on the west side of the Gulf of Thailand, annually host the Hua Hin/Cha-am Golf Festival that runs throughout August and September.

For golf enthusiasts it is pure magic. The option of playing eight competition level golf courses all within easy reach of the two resorts, at incredibly low green fees, is undeniably an offer too good to refuse.

Tourism Authority of Thailand’s offices in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces, in co-operation with the Phetchaburi- Prachuap Khiri Khan Golf Course Association, host the annual event to support tourism and promote golfing, a valuable niche market that helps the resorts to generate substantial business during the traditional low-season.

Over the last three years, the festival has been fine-tuned to the point it is now recognised as a premier event for Asia’s golfing community.

The promotional offers include the opportunity to play golf at any of the eight selected golf courses, throughout August and September, for only Bt800 — without doubt the lowest green fees of the year.
The exception is Springfield Golf Course, which will increase its green fee for September.
There are also invitations to compete in organised tournaments every Sunday for just Bt1,200 (includes caddy fee and dinner), with lots of lucky prizes. The player achieving a hole-in-one at designated holes will win a car on the last day of the festival.

There are also prizes presented for the 'longest drive' contests and an opportunity to shop for specially-discounted golf products with 10 to 30% reduction on Pro Shop prices at all courses.

Of course, specialised golf travel firms are keen to tap the potential of this popular festival by offering “Golf Lovers” packages at the “heavenly seaside resorts of Hua Hin and Cha-am”. The prices range from approximately Bt11,000  for two nights’ accommodation, two rounds of golf and transfers.   A five-night stay with four rounds of golf sells for around Bt19,000.  Trips can be confirmed and paid for online.

The following eight golf courses are participating in the festival :

Aspen is famous for more than skiing. There are currently more than thirty art galleries in and around
the Aspen area, where art created by famous artists around the world resides. Visiting the art galleries in
Aspen is a must, and no Aspen vacation will be complete without this taste of culture.

Most of the art galleries are within walking distance of each other, arranged in a three by four block area.
This area is located between Spring Street and Monarch Street, and Hopkins Avenue and Durant Street.

You will find everything from vintage poster art at the Omnibus Gallery to Impressionism art at the Galerie Du Bois. Visit the Highline Gallery for glass art and the Pam Driscol Gallery for bronze sculpture art. Contemporary collections can be found at the Baldwin Gallery.

    Honeymooning in St. Thomas

If you are planning on getting married in the near future, it is likely that you may need to plan a honeymoon. If you haven’t already selected a location for your honeymoon, you are encouraged to examine St. Thomas. The island of St. Thomas is located in the Virgin Islands. St. Thomas is most well-known for its amazing weather and tropical climates.

If honeymooning in St. Thomas sounds interesting to you, you will have to start planning. Depending on when your wedding is, you may have a difficult time obtaining reservations at the most popular resorts in St. Thomas. This is because St. Thomas is known as one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. Scheduling your reservations ahead of time will ensure that you will be able to stay at the resort of your choice.

When selecting a honeymoon destination it is likely that you will take a number of factors into consideration. You may be wondering why St. Thomas is the perfect place for you and your new spouse to vacation. In addition to the above mentioned tropical climates, you will find that the scenery in St. Thomas is absolutely beautiful. When combined with a tropical climate, the ocean views are sure to create a romantic atmosphere.

When planning your honeymoon you are encouraged not to make the same mistake that most other newlyweds make. This mistake involves picking a vacation destination that is overrun with children. Your honeymoon is supposed to be a private, intimate, and romantic event. You may find it difficult to focus on romance when there are a large number of children running around the area. Another reason why St. Thomas is such a popular honeymoon destination is because a number of hotel resorts have age restrictions.

Vacationing at a resort that has an age restriction in place has an unlimited number of benefits. At these resorts you may find it easier to focus on your romance. In addition to restricting guests, many of these resorts cater specifically to couples. If you vacation at a resort that caters to couples, you are likely to see that the atmosphere is romantic. Many of these resorts create that atmosphere by offering ocean views and in-room Jacuzzis.

While on your honeymoon, it is likely that you will want private moments, but on the other hand, you may wish to get out and be active. St. Thomas has an unlimited number of activities that you can participate in. Many of these activities offer adventure and excitement. If you wish, you can enjoy a guided boat tour, snorkeling tour, or scuba diving tour.

In addition to fun filled adventures, you will see that St. Thomas offers a wide range of other activities. Swimming, boating, sunbathing, golfing, and spa visits are just a few of the many ways that you can fill up your day. At night, if you wish to party and socialize, you will find that St. Thomas is home to a number of trendy bars and nightclubs. These bars and nightclubs is the perfect way to closeout your evenings.

The above mentioned reasons are just a few of the many reasons why St. Thomas is the perfect place to schedule your honeymoon. After comparing alternative destinations, it is likely that you will be back to schedule your St. Thomas honeymoon reservations.

    Hawaii review book guide

    1. Hawaii The Big Island Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook

Hawaii The Big Island Revealed: The Ultimate GuidebookThe New Gold Standard in Travel Guides5
Witty, thorough, useful, honest, and best of all, accurate to a fault. I took my family to Hawai'i armed with this book and we were not disappointed once. This guide was written by residents of Kailua and their local knowledge shows. In the book's introduction they claim to have spent two years putting this guide together. Every minute of that effort shows in the result.

The best feature of the book is that is is organized as a set of driving tours from the Kailua-Kona and Hilo areas. Almost everyone visiting the Big Island travels by rented car and stays in either of these areas. The struc- ture is perfect for a tourist, right down to listing the mile-marker numbers where unmarked sideroads lead to beaches, volcano view spots, and other points of interest not on the rental car maps. It is loaded with color photographs, maps in many level of details -- including hiking trails -- and easy-to-spot icons of the things to see and do. We visited friends who have lived in Kailua for years who were surprised at how many new things they learned.

I have to stop now before I embarass myself. If you visit the Big Island and don't take this book with you your trip will be that much less fun.

This day I'll introduce you about Fodor's Hawaii 2009 (Full-Color Gold Guides) from amazon website you can see now

    A Good Travel Book4
I got this book as a gift so I could remember my times in Hawaii. I lived there for a couple of years and recently got back from a long vacation there. I looked through the book, and I have to say I was surprised at how accurate it was. I wish when I was planning my vacation I had the brains to go out and get a book like this! It doesn't have EVERYTHING in it, but I think thats why you get the book, because its only supposed to have the good stuff so you don't waste your time! I had to find out the hard way. I have to say it had all the best restaurants in it - I've eaten at most of them, great reviews of the night spots and beaches and activities.

One complaint is that they said "The Wave Waikiki" was still open, but I'm pretty sure they tore that down - a few years ago actually. I might be mistaken cause I don't live there, but I think thats where Trump is building now. So it might not be perfect, but the maps are great. And I get lost A LOT.
Definitely worth your time. I have only been to a couple of the islands, and can't wait to use it for when I go to the others.

    - Beach Vacations For Winter

    Aspen Nightlife

    aspen nightlife by aroundtourism.blogspot.com

Finding things to do in Aspen, Colorado during the day isn’t difficult – get out on the slopes and ski or enjoy one of the other winter sports that you love. At night, however, Aspen really comes to life with Aspen nightlife! No matter how old or young you are, there is something to do in Aspen twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Music and dancing are the biggest Aspen nightlife attractions, but there is more to do than just that – so if you aren’t quite old enough to get into the various bars and clubs in the area, don’t think that you will be bored at night – you won’t be! Start by finding out what activities are planned for the evening at your lodge or hotel. Most lodges and hotels have events planned throughout the season – and this is a good place to start finding things to do after the slopes have closed for the day.

Shopping in Aspen is another highlight. There are many galleries and specialty shops that you won’t
find in your own hometown. Take advantage of this. Most shops are open after the slopes have closed
for the day, and many stay open late because they understand that you want to spend your daylight
    hours out on the slopes.

If you aren’t old enough for the club scene, take advantage of the teen nights that are offered by many
of the resorts. These are safe fun nights for teens, which parents will approve of.  Teens also enjoy the
offerings at many of the spas. Spas aren’t just for adults. Enjoy the skin treatments, massages,
saunas, and hot tubs. Some resorts also have game rooms for the teens and younger kids.

If you are old enough for the bars and clubs – finding something to do won’t be hard at all. Again, find out
what is happening in the evening at your lodge or hotel first. If you aren’t interested, hit the streets.
Almost everything is within walking distance in Aspen, and anything that is out of walking distance is
accessible by bus or taxi. If you will be drinking, do not drive your car to the bar or club – find
    alternate transportation.

The Aspen Recreation center has many planned events throughout the season that are appropriate for
adults and kids. However, if you are planning to bring the kids, but you want to enjoy some adult Aspen
nightlife as well, child care may be available through your lodge or hotel.
